Athletic training is a very hands on profession and not behind a desk in a cubicle. The profession requires an athletic trainer to be out on the field with the athletes and very observant. However, there is still paperwork involved and that is where technology comes in handy. There are different computer software programs that can allow an athletic trainer to input the athlete's name and all their information; as well as input information from an evaluation, diagnosis, and rehabilitation notes. This can save space in an athletic training room/office because instead of all the paper files, they are all in the computer.
Technology and athletic training seem to be just getting to know each other because of the nature of the profession. I believe that in the years to come that this will change and technology will become incorporated in the profession like they have been together for years. This can either turn out to be a good thing or a bad thing. It can be good by making the job easier, faster, and save space. It can be bad by making it not as interactive as it is now. Technology can overcome the personal part of being an athletic trainer if we are not careful. There is a fine line between being useful and being too much. Athletic trainers will have to find a balance, so as not to lose an important part of who we are.
